PLEASE NOTE: There is an error in the PDF program where the Street Eat dinner has been incorrectly placed on Friday the 19th. IAVE Street Eat will be taking place on Thursday the 18th.

 

THE GALA DINNER

This is the main networking event

When:  Wednesday evening 17th September

Guests of Honour at the Dinner will be His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, and Lady Cosgrove.

There will be a welcome to country from the traditional owners of the land, His Excellency will share his thoughts on the Conference theme VOLUNTEERING TODAY’S IMPERATIVE, and there will be a presentation of Corporate Awards announced by The International Association for Volunteer Effort.

This is the main networking event of the conference and an absolute must attend for all delegates. The event includes dinner, drinks and live entertainment. This is the perfect way to start the conference off and a great opportunity to meet your fellow delegates in a social context before the formalities begin. 

 

THE CONFERENCE OPENING CEREMONY

When:  9:00am on Thursday 18th September
 
The 23rd IAVE World Volunteering Conference will open with a grand plenary session involving all conference participants. The 23rd IAVE World Volunteering Conference will be opened by Prime Ministers representative. There will be an important video message from Prime Minster Abbott and keynote addresses from:
 
  • Dr Lee Kang Hyun, World President of International Association for Volunteer Effort
  • Hon. Michael Kirby, Chairman of the UN Council of Inquiry to Investigate Human Rights Violations in DPRK.
  • Tim Hardy, Associate Director, NAB Government, Education and Community Business, Institutional Banking
  • Daniel Buritica Cordoba, President of the Colombian Network of Youth
  • Youth Representative elected by World Youth Conference 15 – 17 September
 
KEYNOTE PANEL:  Considering Volunteering & Building Engaged Communities for the Future
 
When:  2:15pm on Friday 19 September
 
Moderated by Jenny Brockie from SBS Insight 
 
Jenny Brockie is one of Australia’s most gifted and sought after forum facilitators. Jenny is well known for hosting SBS TV’s INSIGHT, where she facilitates an always lively and thought provoking discussion on a wide range of topics with more than 50 participants weekly. Jenny’s experience on INSIGHT and as a journalist, documentary film maker and interviewer, give her a unique set of skills which she uses to elicit information in an informative and entertaining way. Her exceptional ability to draw out people’s ideas, get them talking to one another and encourage audience participation is a hallmark of her work as a facilitator.

CLOSING CEREMONY

The 23rd IAVE World Volunteer Conference closing ceremonies will include a unique overview of what has been shared and learned, presented by:
  • Paul Muller, Director of Studies at MMC Link
  • Adrienne Picone, CEO Volunteering Tasmania
  • Greg Johannes, Tasmania Department Premier and Cabinet presenting ECONOMIC, SOCIAL AND CULTURAL VALUE OF VOLUNTEERING.
Featuring:
Announcement of nation and host organisation for  24th IAVE World Volunteer Conference 2016.
 
Plus Presentations:
  • Annalie Killian, Catalyst for Magic – The Journey to 2016 is Director of Innovation and Communication AMP
  • Introduction of newly elected IAVE World President
 

WORLD CONFERENCE FORUMS

When:  Friday Morning (19 Sep.) and Saturday Morning (20 Sep.)
 
The forums (CLICK HERE FOR DETAIL) are focused sessions designed to accommodate open discussion.  They will consist of a panel of high profile speakers with varying perspectives on the forum topic.  The forum venues will accommodate fairly large audiences so they will be like a small plenary session.  Following is a list of the current forum topics:
